It makes me crazy when I hear that too: "blah blah I would never let anyone raise MY kids blah".

Granted, our nanny teaches us stuff that you only learn after having three of your own, but I am not handing her half my take home because having a nanny is the thing to do. I'm working my ass off and pining away for my kid every day wondering what he's up to, what new things he's doing so we have health insurance, a little security and to pay the f'cking mortgage.

The child care centers are booked, you have to lobby or camp out to get in. We're doing the best we can and are grateful for her.

So there.

It feels damn good to be loved. :-D Thank you for checking! I actually realized that, if we didn't get our second vehicle, it being PN's day off, he would have ended up having a late lunch with LN at his work place, I'd have walked over (since he'd have the car for the day) to his work, and then we Nabis would have been on our way home just about when the bridge collapsed - and, if we had any errands to run, it was likely that we would have been on that bridge.
Amazing, eh? Thank goodness we got our second car several months ago... because that was our routine for a year and half.

Halfmama,

Thank you so much for the shout out to teachers, I am a teacher, but a high school/college teacher. Nannies, day care providers, preschool/elementary school teachers are a whole other breed and I wholeheartedly take my hat off to them. You hit it on the nail when you said that they have the creativity, the energy, that special thing that enhances our kiddos' lives in a way that adds to, not take away from your relationship to them. Thank you so much for bringing this up.
christina
