It's madness, madness I say. The kids look great, the color in their cheeks, the brightness in their eyes (even I can tell in the pictures), it doesn't look like they get strained easily just from playing ... when I think obese I think those kids on the Maury Povich show, and they're out of breath just taking a few steps. You know, the episode where the mom is like, "I feed my baby whatever I want! Doritos, Cheetoes ..." (boos from audience) "Excuse me? Excuuuuuse me?? Are you in my house? Do you live in my house?!" My god, we only WISH T would get through first, let alone ask for seconds.

Hmm. Their pics look pretty normal to me, a non-physician Mommy of 3 scrawny kids. And if you're feeding them well and they're active, what more can you do? Kiddie diets?

This is completely meshugenuh. I get it that some kids are too fat, and that this can lead to serious health problems as adults. But your children are not among this group. I swear. And you know that giving expert medical advice is one of my hobbies, despite the fact that I am not a doctor. Assessing a BMI in a 33 1/2" inch human is just silly. Too many variables. Sometimes my son makes a poop that I swear weighs 3 lbs in and of itself. I say you ignore this alarmist twit.

OMG! My pediatrician said the EXACT same thing about my little munchkin -2 1/2 y.o. daughter. At her recent check up she came in at 33 1/2" tall and 29lbs and the doc asked the same stuff: junk food? Absolutely not. Active? Yes (maybe could be a bit more, but we don't have a lot of space where we live), etc. I still make all her food, mostly organic, whole grain, steamed or microwaved so not too much oil, etc. She even takes non fat plain yogurt with fresh fruit, nonfat milk, and her treats are organic surgarless Os, and freeze dried fruit. Can't be that bad. The older generation (read: my mom) tells me that this whole new thing about childhood obesity is blown out of proportion when it comes to babies and toddlers and that maybe around 5 or 6 one should start to keep an eye on things but at 2 or 3 it's just too early. I have been dealing with a bit of a complex since then wondering I am feeding her too much or if she eats too much. She is a good eater, not terribly picky and is always willing to sit down for a meal. I am happy since my friend's kid doesn't eat and I see what a struggle it is for them during mealtimes. Good luck, hang in there, I am there with ya.
christina

in MHO, i kind of think that at 3, that's all a bit ridiculous. i try my best to choose "healthy" options for peanut, but everyone knows how picky children can be, right?

btw, i think your kids look healthy and precious. :-)
